Objective measurements of various histological features in rectal biopsy material were made using computerised interactive image analysis.

Analysis of the resulting data by forward stepwise discriminant analysis showed that biopsies from patients with ulcerative colitis and infective diarrhoea could be distinguished from each other and from normal biopsies; they could not, however, be distinguished from biopsies of patients with Crohn's disease, which behaves as a heterogeneous entity rather than a single disease. The measurements showed that the crypt atrophy described in active ulcerative colitis may be a misnomer, the appearances being due to an increase in mucosal depth and alteration in crypt configuration rather than a true atrophy.

Unexpectedly, the ratio of crypt cell height to surface cell height gave the best separation of Crohn's disease from ulcerative colitis. Read article at publisher's site DOI : Rubio CA. Secondary MRI-findings, volumetric and spectroscopic measurements in mesial temporal sclerosis

The results BlandeAltman analysis showed good within-day journal online assessment to discriminate between groups—both individually and in combination—was evaluated and compared Analysis of psychometric data suggests that executive function J Neurol.. The Z-score is a linear combination of four or five common business ratios, weighted by coefficients. The coefficients were estimated by identifying a set of firms which had declared bankruptcy and then collecting a matched sample of firms which had survived, with matching by industry and approximate size assets. The formula may be used to predict the probability that a firm will go into bankruptcy within two years. The Z-score formula for predicting bankruptcy was published in by Edward I.

Quantitation in inflammatory bowel disease using computerised interactive image analysis.

There is a paucity of data about the significance of secondary MR findings simultaneously evaluated with volumetry and MR spectroscopy. We analyzed the influence of qualitative-secondary MR findings simultaneously with quantitative volumetry and spectroscopy data in MRI positive- and negative patients with mesial temporal sclerosis MTS. Multivariate discriminant analysis DA was performed with the aim to identify specific morphologic and metabolic attributes in hippocampi with and without MTS. The model explained The pooled within-groups correlations showed the highest influence of discriminating function for the secondary MR findings over metabolite indices and hippocampal volumes, the overall predictive accuracy was Key words: discriminant analysis; hippocampus; magnetic resonance imaging; magnetic resonance spectroscopy; sclerosis; temporal lobe epilepsy.
