But, you see, my brother doesn't like to read and I ended up reading this book to tell him the story. The book is a love story told by the Morning to her friend Time The Morning was late certain day when her love interest Mr. Wind told her a lovely love story, and she was going to be punished by Mr. Time, yet she finds a way to be excused for such a delay if she tells him the story that screamed so loudly This is a book recommended for my brother, who is 12 years old, for one of his classes.
Time, yet she finds a way to be excused for such a delay if she tells him the story that screamed so loudly doing. So, she tells him the love story between a cat and a swallow. The cat is, at the beginning, very alone, but he likes it! The problem is that when you're a lonely person I must admit it, like me! But, when a lovely and adorable young swallow starts talking and flirting with the cat he starts to feel something that he never had: Love.
The problem is: "How can a cat and a swallow be together and marry yes, he asked her when by the opinion of the remaining population of the park, a cat belongs with a cat and a swallow belongs with a swallow? Despite being a book that has already been published a few years, in my opinion it seems to me that it is quite current! That was a surprise! It's an adorable book for kids and make them think about very current social problems and that the world is not only black and white, that there are beautiful colors to be seen, which is my view of how the stereotypes should be presented, with differences.

What a delightful little fable, an allegorical I think account of a love affair as experienced by the feared local alley cat and a beautiful young swallow. Playful, witty, unusual, it is a nice novella and well worth anyone's time.
And I loved Carybe's drawings too. I would wager that this came from Amado's pen after he fell in love one Spring as well. Dec 24, Maria Carmo rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Everyone. Beautiful love story between a cat and a swallow To read. Maria Carmo Lisbon, 25th December May 26, vicky dias rated it really liked it.
Plus, it has a story of how they happened to be made and how the book ended up being published that i really like this book. Plus, it has a story of how they happened to be made and how the book ended up being published that made me cherish the story even more. The reason why i didn't give it five stars is i had a couple of issues with how the author portrayed certain characteristics of male and female characters in general. I know the author is known for being ironic and sarcastic, a trace to be found numerous times in this book possibly one of the reasons why i like it so much , but i don't feel this specific subject was written under the influence of this strategy.
I have to say, i love Gato, i relate to him a lot. Being my second read of the story, i feel like i picked up on a lot more topics which i didn't at first, being as young as i was when first reading it. That, of course, made me care a lot more for the book and what it talks about.
Of course, being so short, there isn't a whole lot of space for mind-filling expositional thoughts and deep reflections, which are both aspects i enjoy reading about. It does, as i said, touch on some matters but the story doesn't get too into them, which might be a downside for ones who wanted more depth into these matters. I do think it would be nice to develop on such things a little bit more, but i don't think that is such a big problem for an enjoyable, yet slight thought provoking book.
Understanding for what reasons the story was written might change the negative views people have in the aspect of it not being a more reflectional, criticism filled narrative. All in all, i really like this story. Being such a short one, i would recommend it to everyone who wants a tiny, refreshing book that will give a slight taste of one of brazil's finest authors.
Apr 25, Gabriella rated it really liked it. This book was short and simple, yet so long and complicated, Amado was able to capture so many societal issues, causes, and realities in an enjoyable, light, yet so stunningly touching story. This book is most definitely worth the read. Funny sad and sweet. A quick read but very good. This was a re-read for me and I was surprised to see that I had forgotten a lot of details from this book, including the ending.
When I first read it, I was in my pre-teen years and even though I liked the story, I realize that there was a lot to it that I didn't fully understood. Now, reading it as an adult, I was able to acknowledge all the hidden messages and it was beautiful! This isn't just another child's book, it's a book everyone, from kids to elders, should read at least once in their liv This was a re-read for me and I was surprised to see that I had forgotten a lot of details from this book, including the ending.
This isn't just another child's book, it's a book everyone, from kids to elders, should read at least once in their lives. Heartbreaking, gripping, and poignant. This tale of love and loss was told beautifully.
It hit very close to home for me. Loving someone doesn't always ensure happiness or guarantee they will return your affections. It takes two people to be together and sadly one always seems to be more invested in the relationship than the other.
This tale of animals is the most realistic love story I've read in a long time. It's haunting and beautiful and will stay with me forever. I loved the story, loved the writing and just about everything this books gives. The only thing I didn't like, was the ending. But that's me The narrative style of this story is slightly off-putting at first, but as short a read as it is, you get used to it.
I quite liked this little book. However, due to limited space on my bookshelves, I shall be handing it forward to be hopefully! Jun 25, Adriana rated it liked it. View 1 comment.
