What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis, scaly zoster, is one of the most common chronic diseases affecting the skin, nails and joints. The appearance on the skin of flat papules of various sizes has a tendency that could merge into large plaques, which may be covered with loose scales with moderate or severe itching. With the defeat of the joints, articular psoriasis might develop, and that can lead patients to disability.

Why does psoriasis occur?

There exist some theories:

1 – It could be viiral as an infectious factor.

2 – A hereditary mechanism that leads cells to embellished divison.

3 – It could be neurohumoral, impact on the walls of blood vessels, and vasoconstriction can lead to impaired blood supply.

What is it that provokes psoriasis?

1 — stress, psycho-emotional overstrain.

2 — infectious diseases and foci of chronic infection.

3 – sharp climatic changes.

4 – mechanical, chemical and thermal skin traumas.

5 – Use of drugs and medication

6 – Smoking, alcoholic drinks such as beer.

7 – climacteric syndrome, hormonal imbalance.

Clinical indications of psoriasis in stages:

1 Progressed Level: The abundance of point papules and growth of old plaques as well as the papules are highly visible. The color is bright, pinky and there exists central desquamation. If scrape papule peeling intensifies, the center will turn white.

2. Stationary Level: There are no recent elements of cyanosis. Desquamation is decreased.

  1. Regressive Level: The resorption of infiltrate begins. The desquamation starts disappering. There is only a bright spot which is completaly temporary.

The most common clinically indications of psoriasis.

1 — vulgar psoriasis (normal)

2 — exudative psoriasis – sobbing with serous crusts

3 — seborrheic psoriasis — fat scales

4 — pustular psoriasis— purulent vesicles, crusts.

5 — psoriasis of palms and soles — redness, cracks, bleeding, and desquamation.

6 — articular psoriasis— modification of the joints and their immobility from getting swollen.

7 — psoriatic erythroderma — occurs when the patient is completely covered with rashes, desquamation, redness, dryness.

Progress of Psoriasis

The most common form of psoriasis with exacerbation occurs during a cold season such as in the wintertime. Psoriasis is rarely observed in the summer. Yet, nowadays some mixed forms of the diasease are getting more and more common, recurring at any time of the year.
